| Job Description: |
- Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with phlebotomy log and bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
- Verifies patient by reading patient identification and further confirmation of patients registration by coordination with Reception Staff.
- Obtains blood , urine, stool, semen analysis, pus culture specimens. Additionally pap smear, cytology, biopsy, slides and block are being brought from outside to be examined.
- Also he is involved blood and urine sample centrifuge.
- Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures and observing isolation procedures.
- Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection, maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
- Performs bleeding-times (BT) and clotting times (CT) manually, notifying pathologist of results falling both normal outside normal ranges.
- Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule, identifying and reporting needed changes.
- Keeping the records of specimens in computer through accessioning i-e verifying required quantity of specimen and its presence in the required tubes and then transfer to the Imaging Technologists.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Resolves unusual test orders by contacting the physician, pathologist, nursing station, or reference laboratory, referring unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification and notifying supervisor of unresolved orders.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
- keep your phlebotomy cart or station well-organized at all times
- practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment
- Be courteous and polite to patients.
- Any other task assigned by the Director and the management.
- Playing rider for sample collection for few hours
- Must have own conveyance
