Under a contract with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, READ Foundation is implementing a 36–month program focused on providing primary education access to 3600 underprivileged, out-of-school and dropped-out girls in Gilgit-Baltistan and Sindh, Pakistan."
150 Community-Based Accelerated Learning Schools (CBALS) will be identified and established, providing primary education to marginalized out-of-school/dropout girls (6-16 years).
READ Foundation is one of the largest not-for-profit civil society organizations in Pakistan. It was founded in 1994 with the mission of helping society through quality-oriented, value-based and purposeful education and capacity building. READ Foundation today runs a network of 399 schools of primary, secondary and higher secondary levels with an ever-growing body of over 116,163 pupils and 7389 teachers.

PURPOSE AND SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
- To establish 150 Community-Based Accelerated Learning Schools (CBALS) with the help of the local community.
- To hire and train 120 female teachers to enrol and educate 3600 out-of-school and dropped-out girls using child-friendly teaching methods.
- To establish 240 gender-disaggregate Village Education Committees (VECs), 6 Tehsil Education Committees (TECs) and 4 District Education Committees (DEC) to facilitate girls’ enrolment and attendance as well as monitoring of CBALS.
- To support the development and delivery of a compact 36-month syllabus for primary grades focusing on literacy and numeracy.
- To graduate students at CBALS from primary school via exams monitored by government officials.
- 3,500 girls, including 1,750 (50%) graduating from the 120 CBALS to be enrolled in READ Foundation Schools
Primary Responsibilities
This position is multi-dimensional in nature. He/ she will coordinate field-level activities, organize meetings with all stakeholders and assist the Project Manager in programme implementation.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in the daily implementation and monitoring of the project
- Serve as the key focal points for the educational activities in CBALS and liaise closely with cluster supervisors and community mobilizers
- Support in the development, design and printing of teaching and learning materials
- Lead the process of community engagement, mobilization and sensitization of the target communities and religious leaders
- Coordinate project activities at tehsil and district levels and participate in the meetings of Village, Tehsil, and District Education Committees
- Assess and plan the capacity-building needs of teachers, supervisors and community mobilizers
- Lead and coordinate students’ and schools’ assessments.
- Working with the Project Manager, lead on data collection and reporting, including, but not limited to, monthly project activity and technical and progress reports as per donor requirements and standards
- Organize and carry out project review meetings with communities, schools and education officials at tehsil levels
- Manage administrative functions and coordinate project visits and meetings to ensure regular and effective communication with the wider project team.
Required Qualification and Experience
- Masters’s degree in social sciences or related disciplines
- Demonstrated and practical knowledge of Quality Education projects and approaches
- Familiarity with the geographical setting of GB and/or Sindh
- Cultural sensitivity and excellent communication skills.
- Three to four years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop training material, conduct training of teachers, head teachers and community
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing campaigns
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Creative and proactive personality.
- Flexible, motivated, team player and fast learner.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills.

- Good computer skills, proficient with MS Office applications.
- Fluent in English and Urdu, both in written and spoken. Preference will be given to candidates who can speak local languages.
