| Job Description: |
Expected duration of contracts
is until March 2020 [ER] or until January 2021 [NBU and OT].
Main purpose:
The Nurse is responsible for receiving, assessing and preparing patients. She provides triage and emergency care in the ER or proper nursery care in the NBU or perform surgical tasks, according to MSF protocols and as Doctor or Nurse Supervisor ordered.
Accountabilities:

Patient assessment, care and treatment in one of the following wards: ER or NBU or OT within the DHQ hospital Timergara

Initial assessment of patient: Evaluate the patient upon arrival and prepare and arrange the referral if required.

Patient care, treatment and delivery in the delivery room, in the observation unit and new born unit: Carry out first care of the new-born; in case of complications, carry out initial resuscitation of the new-born and notify the physician.Take vital signs of patient based on established time schedule. In OT: Prepare Operating Room and patient transfer, assist during surgical operation, manage Operating Theatre.

Management of materials and consumables: Ensure that contaminated waste (including needles and other sharps) is segregated and managed according to MSF protocols.

Reporting and recording: Ensure information is handed over to the next shift.

Service Assessment and Development: Taking part in and contributing towards trainings and internal evaluations and making an ongoing effort to maintain and update medical knowledge and skills.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Essential: Good communication skills in Pashto, good knowledge of Lower Dir community and culture
- Desirable: Good communication skills in English
